Ingredients
- 1 c. plus 2 Tb. sifted flour
- 1/2 c. sifted sugar
- 12 large egg whites
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1-1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 c. sifted sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. almond extract
Directions

Sift flour with 1/2 c. sugar 4 times. Beat egg whites and salt until foamy. Sprinkle in cream of tartar and beat until stiff peaks form. Add remaining cup of sugar to egg whites in 4 additions, beating after each. Add flavoring. Beat well. Add flour, folding in 15 complete folding strokes. Sift flour and sugar mixture over egg whites. Beat well. Bake at 375 for 35 minutes. Cool completely over a pop bottle.
