Ingredients
- 1 cup rice (pilavlık pirinc)
- 3 liters milk
- 2 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup granulated sugar
Directions
-
Wash rice twice and begin to boil in a large pot. Just before the water boils, drain completely, cover with water again and boil.
-
Stir rice regularly to prevent it from sticking to the pan.
-
When the water boils and the rice begins to swell, add a bit more water to cover. Keep adding water until the rice just begins to soften. At this point begin adding milk in the same way – bit by bit. Be sure to add enough liquid to cover the rice and stir to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Add milk little by little. Let it boil, reduce, then add more until the rice is fully cooked.
-
Put the cornstarch into a small bowl and add some milk. Set aside.
-
When rice is fully cooked you can fill the pot completely with the rest of the milk.
-
When you add liquid, turn up the heat until it boils, then reduce the heat, but not too low or it will get mushy.
-
Continue to stir to prevent rice from sticking.
-
Add some of the hot milk to the cornstarch mixture. Return this to the boiling pot of milk.
-
Add the sugar after the rice is cooked because the sugar will harden the rice.
