AppleCinnamon Baked French Toast

Put together the night before, this greatly simplifies our annual family Christmas Eve Brunch

Ingredients
- 1 lge. loaf French bread
- 8 extra lge. eggs
- 3 1/2 c. milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 3 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 6-8 med. cooking apples (I use Granny Smith), sliced into 1/8 - 1/4 inch thick sections
- 2 Tbsp. butter
Directions

Spray 9×13 glass pan with non-stick spray

Slice bread into 1 1/2 in. slices and place, cut side up, tightly together in glass pan

In seperate bowl, beat together by hand with wisk for about 30 seconds, eggs,1/2 c. sugar, milk, and vanilla

Pour 1/2 of egg mixture evenly over bread slices

Slice apples and place in rows, with edges slightly overlapping, on top of bread

Pour remaining egg mixture evenly over apples

Mix remaining 1/2 c. sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and sprinke evenly on top of apples. Dot with butter.

Cover and refrigerate overnight

Next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees

Uncover dish and bake for 1 hour

It will rise high and brown nicely

Remove from oven and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes

Cut into squares and serve with heated syrup and sausage, bacon or your favorite breakfast meat
