Parson’s Lasagne

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. ground pork sausage
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. leaf oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 cans (8oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6oz.) tomato paste
  • 1 jar (2 1/2 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1/2 lb. lasagna noodles
  • 1 carton (12oz.) small curd cottage cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 T. milk
  • 2 pkg. (4 oz. each) shredded mozzarella

Directions

  1. Brown meat, onion and garlic in large skillet; drain; mix in seasonings.

  2. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, sliced mushrooms.

  3. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.

  4. Cook noodles according to package directions; drain.

  5. Mix cottage cheese, egg and milk.

  6. Alternate 2 layers each of noodles, cottage cheese filling, meat sauce and mozzarella cheese in deep baking pan 9″ × 13″ as shown below.

  7. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes

  8. TOP OF PAN

  9. Layer #8 Mozarella cheese (add this layer the last 10 minutes of baking)

  10. Layer #7 Meat sauce

  11. Layer #6 Cottage cheese mix

  12. Layer #5 Noodles

  13. Layer #4 Mozzarella cheese

  14. Layer #3 Meat sauce

  15. Layer #2 Cottage Cheese Mix

  16. Layer #1 Noodles
