Cora Nivens’ Fig Preserves

Ingredients
- 1 lb. figs
- 3/4 lb. granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- Juice from 2 or 3 oranges
- Juice from half a lemon
Directions
- Wash and peel figs before measuring. Ina large cooking pot, make a syrup by boiling the sugar, water, orange and lemon juice. Drop in figs and return to a full boil. Reduce hear and simmer until the juice is thick.
- Pour into sterilized jars, seal and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
