Apple Dumpling Cake

Serves 12 people

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped apples
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 pkg. Pillsbury Plus Applesauce Spice Cake Mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup dairy sour cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • Whipped topping

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom only of 13 × 9 inch pan. Spread apples and raisins evenly over bottom of pan.

  2. In large bowl, combine cake mix, 1/2 cup water, margarine, sour cream and eggs at low speed until moistened. Beat 2 minutes at highest speed. Spoon batter evenly over fruit in pan.

  3. In small saucepan, heat 2 cups water and brown sugar to boiling. Pour over batter.

  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm inverted with dollop of whipped topping. Refrigerate any leftovers.
