Beef and Pineapple Stir Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. beef top round steak
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed celery seed
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 cups thin strips celery (1 1/2 inches long)
  • 1 medium onion, cut into 12 wedges
  • 3 Tbsp. dry sherry
  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 can (20 oz.) pineapple chunks
  • 1 pkg. (6 oz.) pea pods, blanched and drained
  • 16 cherry tomatoes, halved

Directions

  1. Partially freeze steak to firm and slice diagonally across the grain into thin strips.

  2. Combine cornstarch, salt, garlic salt and celery seed and sprinkle over meat. Quickly brown strips (1/3 at a time) in hot oil; remove from pan and keep warm.

  3. Place celery strips and onion wedges in the pan and lightly brown. Stir in sherry and soy sauce; stir in beef strips and pineapple chunks; heat through. Fold in hot pea pods and cherry tomatoes. Serve immediately.
