Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. fat
- 1/2 cup (about 1 medium) chopped onion
- 1 1/4 cups (10 1/2 to 11 oz.can) condensed tomato soup
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. prepared mustard
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. MSG
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 3 Tbsp. fat
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 6 hamburger buns
- 3 or 4 thin onion rings thinly sliced
Directions

To make sauce:

Heat fat in a skillet. Add chopped onion and cook until transparent. Add to skillet, tomato soup, lemon juice, brown sugar, mustard,and Worcestershire sauce and blend well.

Mix salt, MSG, and pepper together and add to skillet. Simmer 5 minutes. Set aside in a warm place.

To prepare meat:

Heat fat in a large, heavy skillet. Add ground beef, breaking apart with a fork or spoon into small pieces. Brown over moderate heat, turning occasionally. Blend sauce and meat. Simmer 15 minutes.

Split hamburger buns into halves and toast. Place 2 halves on each of 6 warm plates. Spoon meat mixture over them. If desired, top each serving with onion rings.
