Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. ground sirloin
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp. Montreal steak seasoning
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp. Dijon
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 packaged refrigerated piecrusts, room temp
  • 1 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Chopped fresh tomatoes with parsley, to serve

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425.

  2. In a medium saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add sirloin, onion, garlic, and steak seasoning; cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and crumbly, about 8 minutes. Add tomato sauce, ketchup and mustard, stirring until combined. Bring to a simmer; cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in cheese and parsley. Spoon mixture into a 9-inch pie plate.

  3. On a lightly floured surface, unroll piecrust. Carefully place on filling. Fold edges under, and crimp as desired. Brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  4. Bake until crust is golden brown, 15-18 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with tomatoes.
