Ingredients
- 1/2 C solid shortening
- 1 1/2 C granulated sugar
- Beat together
- Add 2 eggs- Beat 1 minute
- Separately:
- 1/4 C red food coloring
- 2 T cocoa Make paste
- Then add 1 t salt
- Add to sugar, shortening, etc mixture
- Then Mix:
- 1 t vanilla into
- 1 C buttermilk Set aside
- 2 1/4 C all purpose flour alternating with buttermilk is added alternately with buttermilk mixture= beating to incorporate
- Last mix
- 1 t baking soda
- 1 T vinegar=bubbles up a lot
- Hand spoon and mix into above batter
Directions

2 prepared cake pan350 degrees

Bake 25-30 minutes

When totally cooked cut each cake layer with thread to have 4 layers

Frost with cream cheese icing
