Cherry Mash Candy

add red food coloring and extra cherry juice/may need more powered sugar

Ingredients

  • 2 boxes Betty Crocker dry frosting mix (cherry if you can find it)
  • 2 lbs powdered sugar
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1 can Eagle brand milk, sweetened condensed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter-nut or just butter flavoring
  • 1 jar Maraschino cherries, drained and chopped (reserve liquid)
  • 2-12 ounces bags milk chocolate chips
  • 2-12 ounce bags semi-sweet chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons paraffin wax
  • 1 pkg finely chopped peanuts, chopped

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients up to and including cherries.

  2. Add a little cherry juice for color.

  3. Pour mixture into a well greased 9 × 13 pan and freeze.

  4. Melt chocolates in a double boiler.

  5. Add peanuts.

  6. Pour on top of frozen cherry mix.

  7. Refreeze.

  8. OPTION: mix dough, chill, make into balls, (like cherry mashes) then dip in chocolate. place on wax paper
