English Toffee

Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 lb. butter, has to be the real stuff here
  • 3 T. water
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. pecans

Directions

  1. Mix well and cook until brown, about 10 minutes, 300 degrees. Stir all of the time. It may take longer depending on how high the heat is. If it seperates, keep on boiling and it will come back together.

  2. It MUST be brown. Put in 3/4 c. nuts. Pour into buttered pan. Lay chocolate chips over hot mass and let melt, spread over the mass.

  3. Sprinkle with some very small nuts if desired. cool and break into pieces.

  4. It is easy to make and taste soooooooo good. But do remember that the mass has to start browning.
