Whole Wheat Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 tb dry yeast
  • 1/2 c warm water
  • 1 1/4 c boiling water
  • 2/3 c shortening
  • 3/4 c sugar
  • 3 c bread flour, sifted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in ½ c warm water, set aside.

  2. Pour boiling water over shortening. Add sugar. Stir. Beat in 2 c bread flour. Add eggs and beat. Add yeast & mix. Add whole wheat flour and salt. Add enough remaining bread flour while kneading to form a semi-stiff dough.

  3. Let the dough rise in a covered well-greased cookie sheet and cover w/ cloth. Let rolls rise until doubled in size.

  4. Preheat oven to 350 and bake rolls until golden brown, 12-15 mins.
