Turtle Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 package German Chocolate cake mix
  • 14 ounce package caramels
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup canned evaporated milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup pecans (optional)

Directions

  1. Prepare cake following package directions.

  2. Pour half of batter into a 13 × 9 × 2 in. pan

  3. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.

  4. Melt caramels and butter over low heat.

  5. Add milk to butter caramel mixture.

  6. Remove cake and pour caramel mixture on cake.

  7. Sprinkle on chocolate chips and nuts, if desired.

  8. Spread the rest of the batter over the top.

  9. Bake for 20 minutes at 350°.
