Ingredients
- 1 C shortening (can use 1/2 butter)
- 2 C brown sugar
- 2 t vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/2 C flour
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 t soda
- 1 C nuts (almonds or macadamia nuts)

Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla. Add egg. Sift flou, salt, an soda. Add flour mixture and nuts to creamed mixture. Dough is stiff. Mold into 3 rolls (2" diameter) and wrap in wax paper. Chill overnight. Slice with sharp knife and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees.
