Ingredients
- 5 cups apples, peeled and cored and sliced
- 3 tbsp white sugar
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg, ginger, or cinnamon
- 1/4 cup margarine (or butter)
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (or coconut)
- vanilla ice cream (or whipped topping) (optional)
Directions

For filling: place sliced apple pieces in an 8″ × 1-1/2" round baking dish. Stir in sugar.

For topping: in a mixing bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and nutmeg / ginger / cinnamon. Cut in margarine or butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in nuts or coconut. Sprinkle topping over filling.

Bake in a 375F oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until fruit is tender and topping is golden. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped topping, if desired.
