Caramel Topping

Use with Caramel Apple Cake.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. heavy cream
  • 1 t. vanilla

Directions

  1. Combine brown sugar, butter, and cream in a heavy saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Bring to a boil.

  3. Reduce heat to a simmer and continue cooking, stirring, for 5 min.

  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  5. Pour caramel topping over hot apple cake.
