gila’s challah

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2-3 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 package of yeast
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1(1/2) teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups white flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

Directions

  1. Add sugar and yeast to water and set aside

  2. If making in bread machine add all liquid ingredients first (including yeast mixture) then add flour. I guess it would probably be the same by hand. If you are making it by hand add the wheat flour first and then add the white flour cup by cup because you may not need four. Just go for the right consistency. Good luck.

  3. t rise, braid, rise again and bake for 1/2 hour at 350. The longer you let it rise the lighter it is. At least an hour.
