Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Dash salt
  • 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

Directions

  1. Blend cheese, milk, vanilla and salt. Gradually add sugar, beating until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency. If necessary, stir in additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time.

  2. Fills and frosts two 8 or 9 inch layers or frosts a 9 × 13 inch layer cake.

  3. Variations

  4. Chocolate – Before adding sugar, stir in 2 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate (cool).

  5. Peppermint – Stire in 3 drops red food color and 2 tablespoons crushed peppermint candy. If desired, sprikle top of frosted cake with crushed peppermint candy.
