Ingredients
- 6 - 8 peeled, cored and sliced baking apples
- 2 T. water (skip this if the apples are sliced into a bowl of water)
- 1 T. lemon juice
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 3 T. flour
- 1 t. cinnamon
- 1/4 t. ground nutmeg
- 1/8 t. ground ginger
- 1/8 t. salt
Directions

Cook sliced apples in water and lemon juice over medium/low heat until the apples are tender(they’ll be translucent).

Let the apples cool; do not drain the liquid.*

In a large bowl, combine the sugars and spices.

Add apples* and mix well to coat the fruit. *Don’t use all of the liquid in the apples if they are soupy.

Add to 9" pie pan, using both a bottom and upper unbaked crust.

Seal and flute.

Slit the top crust to allow steam to escape.

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes; reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 35-45 more minutes, or until golden brown.
