Snickerdoodles

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon cream of tartar
Directions

Combine 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon in a small mixing bowl

Set aside

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Cream shortening in a medium mixing bowl

Gradually add 1 1/2 cups sugar, beating well

Add eggs, beat well

Stir in vanilla

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and cream of tartar in a medium mixing bowl

Add to creamed mixture, mix well

Shape dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, and roll in reserved cinnamon-sugar mixture

Place 2 inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet

Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes or until lightly browned

Remove to wire racks to cool

Yield: 2 1/2 dozen
