Ingredients
- 375 g fillo pastry
- 1-1/2 cups ground almonds
- 1/2 cup walnut pieces
- 250 g butter, unsalted, melted
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 cup self-raising flour
- 4 egg whites
- 1/2 cup of milk
- Syrup:
- 3 cups sugar
- 1-1/2 cups water
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
Directions

In a bowl combine almonds, walnuts, flour, cinnamon and cloves.

Add lightly beaten eggs and milk to bind dry ingredients.

Remove fillo pastry from packet and divide each into 8 rectangular strips.

Grease lightly the mould.

Place the pastry strips in the tin molds like a flower (in a flower way).

In each centre put 1-1/2 Tbsp of the nut mixture.

Bake 320 F for 50 minutes until golden brown.

Allow to cool.

Syrup:
-
Bring to boil sugar, water and cloves.
-
Add lemon and simmer for 10 minutes.

Pour hot syrup on top of each flower Baclava and allow to cool.

Remove from tin when cool.
