Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2-3 Tbsp oil
  • 1-2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 8 cardamom
  • 1/4 cup fresh or frozen peas

Directions

  1. Soak basmati for a few hours. Rinse and drain.

  2. Hea oil and cumin seeds until seed start to pop.

  3. Add cloves, cinnamon stick, cardamom and fry for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add rice to oil and spices.

  5. Brown rice.

  6. Add peas.

  7. Add water; enough to cover 1-1/2 to 2 " over the rice.

  8. Steam cook with lid until rice is done.
