Ingredients

• 1/2 cup softened butter
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
• 3/4 cup sifted flour
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspon salt
• 1 1/2 cups cooking oats
• 1/3 cup walnuts (chopped) - optional
• 1/3 cup raisins or chocolate chips - optional

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375o.

2. Cream butter and sugars well. Mix in egg and vanilla. Add flour, soda and salt. Beat until smooth. Stir in oats and nuts. Using a round tablespoon measure, place an even tablespoon 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.

3. Makes 28 cookies
