Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup soft bread crumbs [1 slice]
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Dash ground cinnamon
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 1 Tbsp chopped parsley
  • 1 Tbsp chopped fresh mint
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Greek ouzo or other anise-flavored liqueur
  • Flour
  • 2 Tbsp olive or vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Combine beef, bread crumbs, salt, cinnamon, onion, parsley, mint, egg and ouzo in a large bowl; mix lightly with a fork, just until combined.

  2. Shape meat mixture into small balls about the size of a quarter. Roll meatballs in flour

  3. to coat evenly; place in a single layer on a cookie sheet; refrigerate one hour.

  4. Heat oil in large skillet; add meatballs.

  5. Cook over medium-high heat, tossing and turning often, until evenly browned and done, about 10 minutes.
