Festival of Trees Scones

Serves 24 people

Ingredients

  • 3 cups warm buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Directions

  1. Add yeast, sugar, oil, and eggs to buttermilk.

  2. Then sift and add remaining ingredients.

  3. Knead lightly and let rise 1 hour.

  4. Add more flour if needed to make a soft dough.

  5. cut to desired size and drop into hot oil. **Can refrigerate dough for up to one week.
