Southwestern Bean Dip

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 4 cups (16 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
  • Tortilla chips

Directions

  1. In a skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain.

  2. Transfer to a bowl; add the onion.

  3. Mash with a fork until crumbly; set aside.

  4. In a blender or food processor, process the tomato sauce and beans until chunky.

  5. Add to beef mixture and mix well.

  6. Spoon half into a grease 13 × 9 × 2 inch baking dish; top with half of the cheese.

  7. Repeat layers.

  8. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until cheese is melted.

  9. Serve hot with chips.
