Mom’s Easy Chili Recipe

Great served over rice with cornbread and honey.

tsp=teaspoons
Tbs=tablespoons
c=cups
oz= ounce

Prep time: 25 minutes
Serves 6 people

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs of ground beef
  • 2 Tbs shortening (if needed)
  • 2 c chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of crushed garlic
  • 1 tsp of montreal seasoning
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp of fresh ground pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 Tbs ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 3 Tbs chili powder
  • 1/2 c beef stock
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1-28 oz can of tomatoes
  • 3-1 lb cans of kidney beans
  • splash(s) of red wine and/or V-8 juice

Directions

  1. Brown ground beef with onions, garlic, montreal seasoning, salt and pepper, drain off the fat.

  2. Combine all ingredients in the crock pot, and stir well.

  3. Cook on low for 8-10 hours, on high for 5 hours.
