Jessica’s Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2pkg yeast (dry)
  • 2 c warm water
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 6 1/2 to 7 c flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 soft shortening (oil)
  •  

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in water.  Add sugar. 

  2. Add half the flour with salt added.  Beat thoroughly for 2 minutes. 

  3. Add egg and shortening, and gradually remaining flour. 

  4. Let rise. Cover with greased wax paper.  Refrigerate overnight.(I only refrigerate if it’s convenient) 

  5. Roll out oblong 6 inches wide.  Spread with margarine.  Fold over and cut in strips; tie in a knot.  Let rise to double size.  Bake about 12 min at 350 or 375 (I do 375).

  7. I also use this recipe for cinnamon rolls I just double the sugar :)
