Giant Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 c sour cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F

  2. Sift flour, BP, salt and baking soda.

  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beat well to combine

  4. Add half the flour, then the sour cream and then the remaining flour. Mix until just smooth (dough will be stiff- it may be easier to use hands).

  5. Drop mounds of dough- equal to ~3tbsp, 3-4 inches apart on 2 ungreased baking trays.

  6. Bake until edges or cookies are just firm and tops are barely beginning to brown (20-25 minutes), rotating trays halfway through.

  7. Cook on rack.
