Ingredients

• 1 3/4 cups unsifted flour
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 cup solid shortening
• 1/2 cup peanut butter
• 2 tbsp milk
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 egg
• Chocolate candy kisses

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Combine all ingredients except chocolate kisses in a large mixer bowl.

3. Mix at low speed until a dough forms.

4. Shape into balls, using a rounded teaspoonful of dough.

5. Roll balls in additional sugar.

6. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

7. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

8. Remove from oven.

9. While they are still hot, top each cookie with a chocolate kiss, pressing down so cookie will crack around edges.

10. Makes about 48 cookies.
