Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt

  2. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs

  3. Stir in buttermilk

  4. Knead dough gently

  5. roll out to 1/2-in thick

  6. Cut with a 2 1/2-in biscuit cutter and place on a lightly greased baking sheet

  7. Bake at 450° for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown
