Ingredients
- 2.2 pounds flour
- 2 tablespoons yeast
- 150 grams of lard (may substitute vegetable shortening)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- Warm water
Directions
-
Place the flour in a heap on the counter, make a hole in the middle.
-
In a cup, mix the yeast, a little flour, warm water and a pinch of sugar (so that the yeast will ferment, about 10 minutes).
-
Mix this with the flour, add the lard, salt warm water and knead it until you have formed a smooth dough.
-
Cover it with a clean cloth for 30 minutes in a warm area.
-
Form individual balls. Flatten them, and poke with a fork.
-
Place them on a previously greased tray and allow them to rise until double their size (about 30 minutes).
-
Bake about 20 minutes until lightly brown on top at an oven temperature of about 350 degrees farenheit.
