English Muffin bread

This breakfast loaf is sure to cause a stir. It’s virtually fail proof.

Ingredients
- 5 1/2 cups flour, divided
- 2 packages yeast or 4 1/2 tsp yeast
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup water
- cornmeal
Directions

In a bowl, combine 3 cups flour, the yeast, sugar, salt, and baking soda.

In a saucepan, heat the milk and water until hot, then pour them into the flour mixture.

Beat with a wooden spoon until well combined.

Stir in more flour, enough to make a stiff batter.

Spoon the batter into two well-greased loaf pans sprinkled with cornmeal.

Cover and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.

Bake for 25 minutes (or until done) in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F.

Remove from pans immediately.

Serve toasted.
