Ingredients
- 1 pound phyllo dough
- 5 cups of walnuts
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 pound butter, melted
- cinnamon to taste
- cloves to taste
- 1 cup honey
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- juice of 1/2 lemon and the empty lemon cup
- cinnamon sticks
- whole cloves
Directions

Combine the honey, sugar and water with juice of half of a lemon.

Add a cinnamon stick and 2 or 3 cloves.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat and boil over low for about 10 minutes.
- Remove lemon peel, cinnamon and cloves. Cool completely.

Preheat oven to 300

Butter a 9 × 13 pan.

Place one sheet of phyllo dough on pan and butter.

Repeat with 4 more layers, buttering each layer.

Begin to sprinkle walnut mixture after the 5th layer.

Repeat with 2 more sheets of phyllo dough, then add walnut mixture.

Leave 5 sheets for the top layer, buttering each one, but not the last one.

Cut into diamond shapes with a sharp kinfe.

Pour the rest of the butter over the baklava and place in the oven.

Bake for about an hour, until golden brown

Remove from oven and douse with cold syrup.
