Taco Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 - 8 oz bottle taco sauce
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 - 4 oz can diced green chiles
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • 1 package (12 count) taco shells, broken into small pieces
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chopped tomato, sour cream, quacamole (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Spray an 11×7 inch baking dish with cooking spray.

  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until beef is browned; drain.

  4. Stir in the taco sauce, water, chiles, and seasoning mix.

  5. Bring to a boil

  6. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes.

  7. Layer half of the broken taco shells on the bottom of the baking dish.

  8. Cover with half of the meat mixture.

  9. Sprinkle with 1 cup cheese.

  10. Repeat with the reamaining ingredients.

  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.

  12. Top with chopped tomato, and serve with sour cream and guacamole, if desired.
