French Onion Casserole

Serves 8 people

Ingredients

  • 2 large, white sweet onions, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 3 tbl. butter
  • 1/2 lb. grated Swiss cheese
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. lite soy sauce
  • 8 slices french bread, 1/4 thick sliced and buttered

Directions

  1. Saute onion in butter until tender; spoon into a 7×11 inch glass baking dish.

  2. Spread cheese over onions.

  3. Heat soup, milk, and soy sauce together until well blended; pour over onions and cheese. Mix gently with a fork.

  4. Place buttered bread slices on top, overlapping if necessary.

  5. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
