Ingredients
- 2 packages yeast
- 1/2 cup water (105 degrees)
- 1/3 cup sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 5 1/2 cups unbleached flour, divided
- 2 eggs
- melted butter
Directions

Sprinkle yeast over water in large bowl.

Add 1 teaspoon sugar

Let stand about 5 minutes

Add sugar, milk salt and butter

Beat in 2 1/2 cups of flour

Beat until smooth and elastic

Add eggs one at a time

Stir in 2 more cups of flour to make a soft dough

Knead by hand until smooth, about 8-10 minutes

Cover with plastic and let rise about 1 hour or refrigerate 6-8 hours

Punch down and knead into smooth ball

Cover with towel

Let rise 10 minutes

Shape dough into balls

Place on ungreased pan

Brush with melted butter
-
Bake 12-15 minutes in preheated 400 oven
