Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1 cup oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 stick soft butter
- 1/4 teaspoon soda water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 10 ounces pitted dates chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375

Grease a 9 × 9 pan and line with foil

Prepare the crust by mixing flour, oats, brown sugar, butter, soda water, salt and cinnamon

Press 2 cups in bottom of pan

Bake for 10 minutes

Cool completely

In saucepan, cook dates, sugar and 1/4 cup of water over medium heat or until it thickens about 6-8 minutes

Place in bowl and refrigerate for about 1/2 hour

Spread filling over crust

Top with remaining crumb mixture

Bake for 35-40 minutes

Cool on wire rack

Cut into 3 × 4 pieces
