Bread And Butter Pickles

If sealed properly, these pickles will keep in the refrigerator for several months.

Ingredients

  • 1 gal. sliced cucumbers
  • 4 small white onions
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • SYRUP:
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 5 cups vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard
  • 1 tsp. celery seed

Directions

  1. Mix first 4 ingredients together and let stand 2 hours.

  2. Drain and put into glass jars.

  3. Heat syrup ingredients to boiling point and pour over pickles and seal.
