Butter Rich Spritz

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Sift together: 2 1/2 cups flour and 1/2 tsp salt

  2. Cream: 1 cup butter, gradually add 1 1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar, sifted, creaming together

  3. Blend in: 1 egg & 1/2 tsp almond extract & 1 tsp vanilla

  4. Add wet mixture gradually to dry ingredients, mix thoroughly

  5. Press a small amount of dough through a cookie press onto ungreased baking sheets, using any press plate to make desired shape**

  6. Bake: 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes**

  7. Yield: 6 1/2 dozen

  8. Note re: adding food color Start with a few drops. You can always add. Mix in THOROUGHLY first. Then, check color. Dough must be slightly chilled after coloring. I prefer on the darker side. The green ones need to be closely watched when baking as will get too brown. Cookies should not be brown, only firm/set.
