Gingersnap Marbles

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses light
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour all-purpose, sifted
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ginger ground
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  1. Cream together: 3/4 cup shortening & 1 cup sugar

  2. Add: 1/4 cup light molasses & 1 egg

  3. Sift together: 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted & 1/4 tsp salt & 2 tsp baking soda & 1 tsp each cinnamon, cloves, ginger

  4. Add sifted ingredients to sugar mixture. Blend well.

  5. Roll in small balls, dip in sugar.

  6. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

  7. Bake in 375-degree oven for 15 minutes.

  8. Yield: 6 dozen
