Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1-2 tbsp. water
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- Icing:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 11/2 tbsp. cream (or milk)
- 1 tbsp. soft butter
- 2 tsp. almond extract
Directions

- with pastry blender or 2 forks cut butter into flour until coarse crumbs form

- sprinkle with water, work just until dough can be formed into a ball

- press onto pastry sheet (doesn’t need to go to the edges) or form into two long strips approximately 4’ wide

- in medium saucepan bring water and butter to boil; remove from heat

- stir in flour, beat until smooth; beat in eggs one at a time, beating until smooth after each addition; stir in almond

- spread over crust on cookie sheet

- bake at 375° for 45 min; remove from oven; cool

- combine icing ingredients and spread on top

**store uncovered or loosely covered to keep flaky. Do not refrigerate.
