Cookie Cutter Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp almond flavoring
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (I use half whole wheat pastry flour)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions

  1. Combine sugar and butter.

  2. Add egg and flavorings; mix thoroughly.

  3. Stir dry ingredients together and blend in. Refrigerate 2 to 3 hours.

  4. Heat over to 375.

  5. Divide dough in half and roll out.

  6. Cut with cookie cutter; sprinkle with sugar. 7. Place on lightly greased baking sheet.

  7. Bake 7 to 8 minutes, or until delicately golden.

  8. Makes 5 dozen 2 to 2 1/2 inch cookies.
