Ingredients
- 2 apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 pound Phyllo dough
- 1/2 pound slivered almonds, toasted
- Syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Directions

Prepare syrup by simmering water, sugar and lemon juice for 10 minutes and allow to cool thoroughly

Mix apples, cinnamon and sugar.

Place 1 sheet of thePhyllo dough into a buttered pan

Add 2 more layers, brushing each with butter

Scatter apples and nuts on top.

Repeat

Final layer should be 6 buttered sheets

Cut prior to baking
-
Bake at 350 for 50 minutes

Douse hot baklava with cold syrup
