Cheese Biscuits

8 large biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 c self-rsing flour
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1 t sugar
  • 1/3 c Crisco shortening
  • 3/4 c grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • Garlic Butter*

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.

  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and sugar together usinng a fork; cut in shortening until it resembles cornmeal. Add cheese. Stir in buttermilk all at one time just until blended. Do not overstir.

  3. Drop by tablespoonfuls (you can use an ice cream scoop) onto a well-greased baking sheet.

  4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.

  5. Cool.

  6. Brush warm Garlic Butter over warm biscuits.
