Strawberry Granita

(from beckyinem’s recipe box)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup hot tap water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup coarsely cracked ice cubes
  • 2 pints strawberries, rinsed and quartered
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • sliced strawberries

Directions

  1. Combine hot water and sugar in blender and process until sugar is dissolved

  2. Add ice and blend until mixture is slushy

  3. With blender running, gradually add strawberries and process until berries are pureed

  4. Add lime juice

  5. Taste and add more lime juice, if needed.

  6. Place in a 9 × 13 pan and freeze, using fork to stir slushy center into almost frozen edges every 20 minutes or so, until mixture is semi-frozen, about 1 1/2 hours
