Chocolate-Orange Velvet Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups cinnamon-flavored graham cracker crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup turbinado sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 (4 ounce) semisweet chocolate, baking bars coarse chopped (Ghiradelli)
  • sweetened whipped cream, to top
  • orange zest, garnish

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°.

  2. Combine the first 3 ingredients in a bowl; press firmly into a lightly greased 9 inch pie plate.

  3. Bake for 11 minutes or until lightly browned; remove from oven and let cool.

  4. In a saucepan, combine the cream and next 4 ingredients; bring to a simmer over med-low heat.

  5. Remove from heat; add in chocolate, and stir until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth.

  6. Pour filling into baked crust; refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm.

  7. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of orange zest.
