Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 T. oil
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1/2 an onion
- 2 carrots
- 3/4 cup frozen peas
- salt
- pepper
- thyme
- garlic powder
- cayenne
- dash of soy sauce
- 3 cups water
- 3-4 T. cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water
- potatoes
- water
- milk
- salt
- butter
- cream cheese
Directions

Chop onion, garlic.

Slice carrots and celery on a diagonal.

Peel potatoes, dice, and put them in a pot with water to cover.

Brown ground beef in a large pot, add oil if necessary. Drain fat if necessary.Season.

Add onion and garlic, fry till fragrant.

Add rest of veggies and cook 5 minutes.

Season to taste. Add water. Add soy sauce.

Cover and simmer on low until veggies are soft.

Mix a slurry of cornstarch and cold water.

Add to boiling stew, stirring constantly.

Cook a few more minutes. Check seasoning.

Meanwhile boil potatoes till tender.

Drain, season, add butter and cream cheese, mash.

Serve thickened “stew” over hot mashed potatoes.
