Ingredients
- 8 c sliced apples
- 2 T brown sugar or maple syrup
- 1/2 t cinnamon
- Topping:
- 1 c all-purpose white or ww pastry flour
- 1/2 t cinnamon
- 2/3 c light or dark brown sugar
- 1/4 t salt
- 5 T unsalted butter, cut into chunks
- 2 T walnut oil
- 3/4 c chopped walnuts
Directions

eheat oven to 375.

Butter shallow 2 qt baking dish and position rack in center of oven.

Quarter, core and peel apples.

Slice them 1/2 inch think at center.

Toss with sugar and cinnamon.

To make topping, add dry ingredients. Add butter and work in with fingers.

Add oil, work briefly and add nuts.

Add apples to dish then topping.

Bake for 40 min.
